Air Travel Tips #3

To continue the series
- weather is really an act of god. Airline employees cannot control the weather. We will not give you a free hotel room, or a refund, or a flight on another airline due to weather. It is an act of god.
- cursing and yelling at airline employees gets you nowhere, except maybe a conversation with the police or TSA. We often will get "selective hearing" when cursing starts.
- areas behind counters, in jetways, and behind ropes are restricted areas. Airline employees have the right to kick you out of those areas. We put the ropes up for a reason!

Air Travel Tips #2

More tips for today's air traveller
4. Airlines don't make the security rules, TSA does. We have to follow them too when we travel
5. Don't throw away your baggage claim slips until you receive your bag at your final destination
6. When it's raining outside, yes, your bag may get wet. Planes are unloaded OUTSIDE.
7. I am not personally gaining any money by charging you baggage fees, I am just following the guidelines established by my employer.
8. When you are late for your flight, it is not my fault. I cannot make the plane come back just for you.

Facebook Addict

I have to admit, I have become a true facebook addict. I have a farm, 2 actually, a cafe, and island and a mafia. It sucks you in! Here's to hoping that NaBloPoMo makes me blog more again. I hope to continue with more series items, such as air travel tips, frugal hints, and maybe a child activity list. I am open to any suggestions!

Air Travel Tips #1

Okay, so every day I get asked the same questions, or deal with the same situations at work. In effort to take away the mystery of air travel, I am going to start a series of air travel tips.

1. Always bring a government issued ID with you that is NOT expired. I don't want to see your CoStCo card, or your YMCA card.

2. Every policy regarding baggage is on the appropriate airlines' website. And yes, there are charges if your bag weighs 40 quadrillion pounds.

3. The scheduled departure time of your flight is not when you should be boarding the plane. Airlines follow a 10 minute rule, which means that your reservation will be cancelled if you are not in your seat 10 minutes before the scheduled departure.

That's it for today! Baby steps, folks, baby steps.

We're Back!

A day late, so you can imagine the upcoming blog posts. All I can say is that flying for free is cool, but it also has its pitfalls. Like staying the night on the floor of your in-law's basement because you cannot get on a flight. You can see by the picture that Ethan enjoyed his extra long wait at Ohare. We couldn't pull him away for nothing!

I'm excited!

I'm so excited, tonight I will be in my mot favorite city! We will be seeing lots of family and friends, but not my best friend. She was going to drive up from Indianapolis, but she cannot get off of work. We will miss her and hopefully she will be able to sneak away for a visit to the ATL soon. This is also the first time that we will be staying with friends and not at a hotel. (Thanks Ed and Maria) Buying 2 cars in a month killed the travel fund!
